Polar climate researcher | Astrophysicist

I am a physicist with a PhD in stellar/stellar population astrophysics, now working as a polar climate researcher. During my PhD studies, I studied stars, their spectra and how they combine to form galaxies. I find a star’s spectrum to be like a good book — you cannot learn much by just looking at the cover, but when you open its light into a spectrum, a forest of spectral lines reveals the stellar story!

However, I felt the need to pursue science with higher social and environmental responsibility and impact, especially in light of the climate crisis. Now, I am a polar climate researcher at the Danish Meteorological Institute. I am working with regional climate models, focusing on the polar regions. And recently — I’ve been looking at snow in climate models! The aim is to provide new insights into key regional-scale physical processes in the Arctic and Antarctic.

I am drawn towards complex problems, and I am detail-orientated. With a background in general physics, equipped with scientific methods and analytical skills, I can systematically solve complex problems, in astrophysics, climatology and beyond!
